Studies of the toxicological profile of Cordyceps sinensis show a high degree of biological safety with oral and parenteral administration. In animal experiments, acute oral toxicity (LD50) was determined to be over 16 g/kg body weight, which indicates the practical absence of risk of lethal outcome even with multiple exceeding of therapeutic dosages. Signs of toxic action were not observed even with administration of the extract at a dose of 10 g/kg for 14 days.
