Emulsifier (natural, lecithin-based) — 3 g. Vegetable glycerin — 3 g. Purified water — up to 100 g. The oil and aqueous phases are prepared separately: coconut oil with powder is heated to 45 °C, the aqueous phase with hydrolate — to 40 °C. The emulsifier is introduced into the oil phase, then the phases are combined with thorough stirring until a homogeneous emulsion is formed. The extract and glycerin are introduced, stirred until thickening.

Toxicity and Biosafety of Coptis chinensis
Experimental data on the toxicity of Coptis chinensis demonstrate its relative safety when used in therapeutic doses. The main biologically active substance associated with the toxicological profile is berberine — an isoquinoline alkaloid.
Acute oral toxicity (LD50) for berberine isolated from Coptis chinensis is: for mice: 329 mg/kg with intravenous administration, 1540 mg/kg with oral administration; for rats: 2050 mg/kg with oral administration.
